The Colors of Japan
Japan has traditional colors that are unique to its culture and have been nurtured over many years through the changing seasons.
The "Traditional Japanese Colors" series recreates these traditional colors in everyday items.

In order to reproduce this traditional color, we use a "painting" process in which craftsmen carefully finish each piece.
We are committed to using domestically produced materials, even in the smallest details, such as the main raw materials and painting techniques.
The vividness of the paintwork brought out by artisans
Craftsmen apply multiple coats of paint by hand, following the techniques of Yamanaka lacquerware, which has a history of over 400 years. By utilizing advanced painting techniques, we can achieve smoother and more vibrant colors.
The reason painting is so nerve-wracking is that subtle changes in the color of the paint occur over time. It is extremely difficult to apply a consistent thickness, and applying it by machine tends to result in uneven color. Reproducing the same color all by hand requires experience and skill.
After much trial and error, we have succeeded in using traditional painting techniques on everyday lunch boxes.
