Our craftsmen apply layers of lacquer by hand according to the techniques of Yamanaka Lacquerware, which has a history of over 400 years. By applying the coating using advanced painting techniques, smoother and more vivid colors are possible.
The reason why painting is so nerve-wracking is that the paint undergoes subtle color changes over time. It is very difficult to apply the paint with a constant thickness, and uneven colors can easily be produced with a machine. It takes a lot of experience and skill to reproduce the same color all by hand.
After a long process of trial and error, we succeeded in using the traditional lacquering technique on a bento box for daily use.
