"Painted lunch box" finished by skilled craftsmen

熟練した職人が仕上げる『塗りのお弁当箱』

At P:BLOCK, we have applied this technology to our bento boxes so that anyone can enjoy traditional Japanese painting techniques without hesitation, regardless of age.

Craftsmen finish each piece by hand, but the "painting process" in particular requires a high level of skill. The technique has evolved and developed along the technique of "Yamanaka lacquerware" with a history of over 400 years.

Why is the “painting process” particularly difficult?
This is because subtle color changes occur in the paint over time.
It is very difficult to apply a uniform thickness, and color unevenness is likely to occur with a machine.
Reproducing all the same colors by hand requires experience and skill.

However, by sticking to the "painting process" that takes time and effort, it is possible to create smoother and more vivid colors.
